This picture was taken about 1 week after Easter and Maria was still wearing her bunny ears. Her mother said she hadn’t taken them off since then.

We recently hosted award-winning videographer Marcela Moran who I am proud to say, happens to be my cousin. She enthusiastically showed some of our students her equipment, walked them through the video-making process and educated them on chroma key technology.

Today I showed a truly wonderful group of 3rd graders how to login to Destiny and HOLD books in addition to other features of the catalog. After the class had checked out their books and went back to class Leeroy came back and handed me a dollar. I asked him what it was for. He told me that I was a great teacher and this was his gift to me. I was so taken aback  and all smiles. I told him I couldn’t take his dollar, that I get paid very well for what I do and that I do things for them because I love them. I can’t put into words what I feel and felt at that moment so I won’t even try, but my heart is full.

President Obama purchased two children’s books recently when he popped into an Iowa City bookstore, “The Secret of Zoom” by Lynne Jonell and “Journey to the River Sea” by Eva Ibbotson. For someone accompanying him, he also purchased a “Star Wars” pop-up book. (AP Photo/Charles Dharapak)
