Yes, this is me standing next to Jon Scieszka. I caught up with him, well okay; I kind of cornered him at the Jan Paris Bookfest on November 6th. I plotted how I was going to get close to him and I’m ashamed to say the only thing I could think of that would get his attention was to tell him that my book trailer beat his book trailer. Not only was my behavior unabashed, but I also monopolized his time — twice. It worked though.

Jon was a dear and he took the time to talk to me. Surprisingly, he asked me what I was working on. I thought that was pretty amazing. This was one of the moments in my life that I will look back on and say, “Did that really happen”?
